Snæfellsnes peninsula
In this private super jeep day tour we leave Reykjavik and explore the scenic Snæfellsnes peninsula.
At the beach by Langaholt you will see one of the very few golden beaches in Iceland.
Gerduberg is one of Iceland’s longest belt of basalt columns reaching up to 14 meters in height.
Snæfellsjökull glacier is a small glacier located in the western most tip of the peninsula. The glacier stands majestically in a national park. Underneath the glacier there is an active volcano that erupted last 1750 years ago. Jules Verne used the glacier in his book Journey to the center of the earth making the glacier an entrance to the center. This makes Snæfellsjökull one of Iceland’s most popular sights.
This scenic gorge cuts into Mt. Botnsfjall. The gorge can be seen from the road but you can also easily hike up to the gorge for a closer look.

These locations all have scenic rock formations. By Arnarstapi beach you can see the rock sculpture Bardur. Hellnar used to be a fishing station in the 1700 era. Londrangar are volcanic cliffs that according to old Icelandic myths used to be trolls.
Kirkjufell is a cone shaped volcano. It’s very scenic and pictures from that area are used a lot in travel publications about Snæfellsnes. Nearby waterfall with the mountain in the background offers a perfect photo opportunity.
